October 24, 2025 - The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) invites the public to join a stakeholder meeting on proposed changes to rules regulating Transportation Network Companies (TNC) or rideshares. The PUC regulates rideshares to ensure passenger and vehicle safety and wants to hear the public’s input on proposed changes focusing on imposter drivers (drivers posing as licensed operators). The virtual meeting will be held from 4 PM to 6 PM on Monday, Oct. 7.

“Every day, Coloradans and visitors to Colorado use rideshares as a way to get to work, travel and home. This industry has grown and evolved tremendously since the very first companies came to Colorado in 2014, and the PUC wants to ensure that our rules are keeping up,” said PUC Director Rebecca White. “If you have used a rideshare and have ideas about how to improve vehicle, passenger and driver safety, please give us your thoughts at Rideshare Engage. If you are interested in having a voice in rules on imposter drivers, we want to hear that too whether that be through Rideshare Engage or by joining the Oct. 27 meeting.”
The PUC also has an online tool, Rideshare Engage, to gather public input on rideshare safety and broaden awareness of the PUC’s role in overseeing the industry.
The PUC ensures that rideshare vehicles are properly licensed and insured, that drivers have passed background checks and met medical certification requirements, and that vehicles have been verified to be in a safe and working condition. The PUC does not set rideshare rates or fees. To learn more, visit PUC Transportation Network Companies webpage, puc.colorado.gov/tnc.
