The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) concluded deliberations on Xcel Energy’s rate increase for natural gas. Xcel Energy proposed, in Proceeding No. 24AL-0049G, a rate increase for natural gas based on a proposed revenue requirement target of $171 million.
The Commission completed its deliberations on Oct. 25, approving a revenue requirement increase of $130.76 million. This will result in a monthly residential bill impact of $4.57 and a rate impact to small commercial businesses of $17.49, with an effective date of Nov. 5, 2024. The costs are due in part to investments to safety and integrity of its gas system and connecting new customers. Rate impacts on all customers classes are provided in Xcel’s advice letter filed in 24AL-0475G.
“The PUC wants Xcel Energy consumers to be aware of this increase to their bill,” said PUC Director Rebecca White. “This is especially important, as many customers use natural gas to heat their homes in the winter.”
