Transportation Carrier Types

Common Carriers

Common Carriers are public utilities and must serve all of public. Common carriers offer scheduled service and/or call-and-demand services, such as taxi, sightseeing, shuttle, and charter.

Contract Carriers

Contract Carriers are limited to providing service under a private customer contract that addresses unique needs at a price not less than that of common carriers.

Household Goods Carriers (Movers)

Household Goods Carriers are licensed to provide moving services to consumers. 

Limited Reguation Carriers

Limited Regulation Carriers include luxury limousines, charter buses, off-road scenic charter services, and children's activity buses. 

Towing Carriers

Towing Carriers provide vehicle towing services to consumers.

Transportation Network Companies

Transportation Network Companies (for example, Lyft or Uber) uses a digital network to connect riders to drivers.
